About The Movie

After the historical movie “Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha“, the dream team - Mammootty-Hariharan-M.T.Vasudevan Nair, are back again with yet another historical movie Pazhassi Raja.
The movie is the most expensive one to be ever produced till now in Malayalam. A total of 15 Crores is spent for the movie. There is also a huge cast for the movie with Sarath Kumar, as one of the lead roles along with Mammootty. Being the first Malayalam movie for Sarath Kumar, he plays the role of Pazhassi Raja’s best friend and chief lieutenant - Edachena Kunkan.
The movie also has three female leads - Padmapriya, Linda Arsenio and Kanika Subramaniam. Out of them Kanika, will be playing the role of queen to the Raja. Padmapriya will be playing the role of an Adivasi girl. Linda Arsenio will be playing the role of an English women.

Suman, who became famous after the movie Shivaji, is playing the villain role “Pazhaiveetan Chandu” in the movie.
This is the first time that a Pan Vision camera and many other advanced technologies are used for a Malayalam movie.


Story

In the movie Mammootty, who plays the role of Pazhassi Raja, is the one of the first freedom fighters in India to have organized a revolt against British rule. During his rule, he had to face threats from the British East India Company and also Tippu sultan, the Mysore ruler. He was mainly against the illegal tax collection of the East India Company from the Malabar civilians. But as his oppositions overpowered him, he was forced to move to the jungle along with his wife and immediate attendants.
He continued his struggle against the British with the help of Adivasis, but in vain. He was captured and shot dead in a place called Mavila Thodu by a British Officer called Harvey Babar.
Most of the shooting of the movie was completed in a palace in a village called Koodaali near to Kannur in Kerala.
The movie is supposed to release by the end of April.
