No hard feelings over airport delay: Mammootty

A few weeks ago, superstar Mammootty was briefly 'separated for questioning' by security officials at the JFK International Airport, New York, for more than two hours on April 29 as they had instructions to check the details of all passengers with the name ‘Muhammad Ismail’.

56-year-old Mammootty, whose full name is Muhammadkutty Ismail Paniparambil, is back home on Saturday after a nearly month-long visit to the US. Talking about the event, Mammootty said that he has no ill-feelings towards the officials at the airport as they were just doing their job.

"It became news here because it was me and do you know there were 30 others whose clearance was delayed because the officials were checking their papers too. I had no issues at all; they treated me properly and I have nothing against them. I said who I am and when I told them that my website reveals everything, they were convinced after they checked it."

He said he was in the US as part of a fund-raising campaign for his close friend, attorney Stanley Kalathara, who is contesting the election for the New York City Council from District 25, which includes Jackson Heights and Corona. Mammootty added that his trip went off well. Mammootty will soon begin shooting of his movies in the pipeline: Gireesh's Handsome, Jayaraj's Loudspeaker and Renjith's Palery Maanikyam.

Mammootty to do Tamil film again

After a gap of almost three years, Mammootty is all set to give Tamil another shot. It was not the lack of offers, but the debacle of ‘Junior Senior’ in 2004, made him extremely choosy while selecting films in Tamil.

His last release in Tamil was ‘Viswathulasi’, with Nandita Das and was directed by a woman director Sumathy Ram. It was an experimental film and didn’t do well commercially.

The new film is directed by debutant Karthik, who has worked under Maniratnam as associate director. Henry produces the film under Pankaj Productions banner. ‘Yavanika’, produced by Henry is one of the turning points of Mammootty’s early career. It is one of the reasons why Mammootty agreed to do this film, even though his date diary is full for the coming two years.

‘Daddy Cool' shifted to August 15

Mammootty's new movie ‘Daddy Cool’ which has recently completed its shooting will now, grace the theatres as an independent day release. The movie featuring Richa Palod as the heroine is directed by Ashiq Abu.

The immediate release of Mammootty will be ‘Pattanathil Bhootham’ which will be on theatres by the last week of June. This special effects fantasy movie told in the background of a circus troupe, directed by Johny Antony, will feature Mammootty in a double role. The movie with Kavya Madhavan as heroine will have music by Shaan Rehman who became popular with the album ‘Coffee@MG Road’.

As per the present plans, Mammootty's Onam release will be ‘Kutty Shranku’, directed by Shaji N Karun. This off beat movie is expected to fetch another national acclaim for the actor. Also in the list of new releases from the actor is ‘Vande Matharam’ his bilingual with Tamil action star Arjun, which is in its final stages of production.

The megastar who is presently in America will return by the end of the week to complete his new movies in the pipe line, including Gireesh's ‘Handsome’, Jayaraj's ‘Loudspeaker’ and Renjith's ‘Palery Maanikyam’.

About The Movie

After the historical movie “Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha“, the dream team - Mammootty-Hariharan-M.T.Vasudevan Nair, are back again with yet another historical movie Pazhassi Raja.
The movie is the most expensive one to be ever produced till now in Malayalam. A total of 15 Crores is spent for the movie. There is also a huge cast for the movie with Sarath Kumar, as one of the lead roles along with Mammootty. Being the first Malayalam movie for Sarath Kumar, he plays the role of Pazhassi Raja’s best friend and chief lieutenant - Edachena Kunkan.
The movie also has three female leads - Padmapriya, Linda Arsenio and Kanika Subramaniam. Out of them Kanika, will be playing the role of queen to the Raja. Padmapriya will be playing the role of an Adivasi girl. Linda Arsenio will be playing the role of an English women.

Suman, who became famous after the movie Shivaji, is playing the villain role “Pazhaiveetan Chandu” in the movie.
This is the first time that a Pan Vision camera and many other advanced technologies are used for a Malayalam movie.


Story

In the movie Mammootty, who plays the role of Pazhassi Raja, is the one of the first freedom fighters in India to have organized a revolt against British rule. During his rule, he had to face threats from the British East India Company and also Tippu sultan, the Mysore ruler. He was mainly against the illegal tax collection of the East India Company from the Malabar civilians. But as his oppositions overpowered him, he was forced to move to the jungle along with his wife and immediate attendants.
He continued his struggle against the British with the help of Adivasis, but in vain. He was captured and shot dead in a place called Mavila Thodu by a British Officer called Harvey Babar.
Most of the shooting of the movie was completed in a palace in a village called Koodaali near to Kannur in Kerala.
The movie is supposed to release by the end of April.

Pazhassi Raja, now a Ramzan release

An interesting period film, 'Pazhassi Raja' will now be a big summer release. But this is not confined only to Malayalam, in which it is originally being made, but will be an important release across the country, where it will be released in five languages.

The film, starring Mammootty, Sarath Kumar, Padmapriya and Kanika, is the story of a patriot who stood up against unfair British policies in India a good fifty years before the famous Sepoy Mutiny. It tells the story of 'Pazhassi Raja' and his people’s warfare against imperialism.

The movie is being directed by Hariharan, for a script penned by MT Vasudevan Nair. Originally, the movie was planned for August 15 release, but it now looks like the film will hit screens only on Ramzan.

Jagadheesh to direct Mammootty

Comic hero and supporting star Jagadheesh, is again to his ever time high in popularity, after the recent super hit - To Harihar Nagar. But the latest news is that, he is all set to call the shots to super star Mammootty in a short while.

His debut feature as a director will feature the super star as the hero. The initial works including the scripting for this movie is on at the capital city. News is that Jagadheesh who had been a co writer to many hilarious comedies of the eighties, will script the movie himself. This untitled project to be produced by Ajayachandran Nair, will be one of the prestigious projects of Mammootty in the first half of 2010.

After the last year's biggest movie ‘Twenty: 20’ is arriving another multistarrer, ‘Yugapurushan’- a historical based on the life and teachings of the best known social reformer from Kerala, Sree Narayana guru. Director R. Sukumaran, quite famous for his initial works like ‘Paadamudra’ and ‘Raajashilpi’ is narrating the life and teachings of the saint, Sree Narayana Guru,(1856-1928) through the movie, which will have the support from the entire artists from the industry. The director, who is back to industry after 14 years, is planning to give more emphasis on Guru's thoughts and teachings through the films, than to create another biography. He has already completed eighty percent of the shoot, for the movie at various locations at Ottapalam, Kannur, Thaliparambu.

According to the director, the movie is meant to portray how the impact of Guru's vision changed the history of Kerala society. ''I am not trying to describe the complete life of Guru through the movie, but to make the new generation understand the significance of his worldly vision. After watching the movie, I am sure everyone will realise that Guru stood for the entire society, than for any particular segment of it. This will be a movie that will guide the future generations about how guru initiated social reforms in Kerala without shedding a drop of blood and about his teachings, misread by some.''says R Sukumaran.

The movie will feature Thalaivasal Vijay, one of the finest character artists from Kollywood as Sreenarayana Guru. Earlier Mammootty was planned to be in the title role but the thinking actor skillfully pleaded to keep him out of the thought, as he hardly share any physical resemblances with the saint who was a part of this century. Mammootty, now plays the role of K C Kuttan, a revolutionary firebrand leader who lived for Guru and his teachings, and shared a great camaraderie with the sage, in the same period.

While Super star Mohanlal will appear as Swami Vivekanandan in the movie, Babu Antony will come up as Ayyankali, the Harijan leader from the state. The movie will also present historic personalities and contemporaries of guru like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Chattambi Swamikal, Kumaranasan, T K Madhavan, Dr. Palpu, C V Kunjuraman, Sahodaran Ayyappan and Mannathu Padmanabhan. Navya Nair will appear in double roles, the first as a Brahmin lady named Savithry Antharjanam, inspired by Guru's teachings.

‘Yugapurushan’ planned to get completed in four schedules in a budget of 5 crores is produced by A V Anoop. Also in the cast of the movie are Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Saikumar, Siddhique, Devan, Saji Vaakkandu, George Paul, Saijukurup, Shobha Mohan and Sukumaran. Ramachandra Babu handles the camera for the movie which will have a few songs set to music by Mohan Sithara in the lyrics of Kaithapram. The movie will also feature a few poems written by Guru and Mahakavi Kumaran Asan. Art director K Krishnankutty has created some exceptional sets of Sivagiri and Aruvippuram for the movie, which will be one of its highlights.

‘Pazhassi Raja’ shifted to Ramzan

Mammootty's magnum opus historical ‘Pazhassi Raja’ will once again shift its original release dates.

The movie will now get into theatres only by the Ramzan season. The movie which was earlier planned for August 15 was rescheduled as Mammootty's two releases ‘Pattanathil Bhootham’ and ‘Daddy Cool’ will release only in the months of June and July.

Since ‘Pazhassi Raja’ is a big budgeted movie, the makers feel that it needs at least two months gap from Mammootty's earlier releases, to receive a great opening.

‘Pazhassi Raja’ directed by Hariharan in the scripts of M T Vasudevan Nair, is produced and distributed by Gokulam Gopalam in the banner of Gokulam films.

‘Palery Maanikyam’ to start this month

Mammootty's next ‘Palery Maanikyam’ will start its shoot by the next week.

The movie will have its first shot scenes at Paris, by the end of this week. Produced by A V Anoop and Subair in the banner of A V A productions and Varnachithra Bigscreen, the movie is based on a famous novel by T P Rajeevan.

Sreenivasan, Jagathy Srekumar, Vijayaraghavan and Siddhique will be also in the cast of the movie which will feature another thirty fresh faces in important roles. New comers Reema Kallunkal and Gowry will don the female lead of this movie, which is expected to grace the theatres by the end of this year.

Pattanathil Bhootham again postponded

Mammootty’s latest and much hyped movie ‘ E Pattanathil Bhootham’ expected to release on May 14th. But the latest news about the movie is that it is again postponded to June 25.E Pattanathil Bhootham is a humorous fantasy thriller, tells the story of Jimmy, an adventure bike rider in a circus, who accidentally gets some supernatural powers, with which he tries to fight the baddies of society. Reports say that Mammootty will attempt some daredevil acts of a bike racer in this film.For the first time in her career,Kavya Madhavan will be the heroine role opposite Mammootty in E Pattanathil Bhootham which most probably will be her last film.Mammooty is doing a double role in the movie.

Mammootty's new film with Renjith

Superstar Mammootty's upcoming project with writer - director Renjith will kick start very soon. Though planned as a movie based on T P Rajeevan's murder-investigation story that happened at the early seventies, the makers of this new film Palery Maanikyam is planning to give a new face lift to the movie's story premises.
Mammootty will appear in this film as an investigator who is coming from the nation's capital to investigate on the murder of a man named Manikyam. It is hearing that the director of this film, Renjith is planning to hold the first schedule of shoot for the movie at Paris. This thriller movie will be produced by A V Anoop and Subair under the banners of A V A Productions and Varnachithra Big screen respectively

I believe in reinvention: Mammootty

This year, Mammootty will be celebrating his birthday on the sets of his magnum opus Pazhassi Raja, directed by Hariharan in Kannur on Sunday(Sep 7). The actor will then go to Kochi and complete his Maya Bazaar, his next big release for Perunaal (Ramzan), most likely to fall on October 1.

Superstar lands in trouble in the US

The Malayalam superstar Mammootty was detained at the US airport for a few hours. The airport officials were apparently confused by the name in the actor’s passport - Muhammadkutty Ismail Paniparambil. However, with the timely intervention of the Indian Consulate, which was informed by the Malayalee association members, Mammootty was allowed to proceed.
The security officials at the JFK International Airport had been instructed to question all persons entering the US in the name of Muhammad Ismail and this had triggered the confusion.
The actor was taken for questioning for over two hours by the security officers.

Mammootty's Pattanathil Bhootham to grace on May 14

Malayalam superstar Mammootty's much-anticipated Ee Pattanathil Bhootham, directed by Johny Antony, is all set to grace screens on May 14. The movie, which was earlier slated for April 30 release, was postponed due to the delay in completion of heavy graphics and animations. The film has been scripted by Siby K. Thomas and Udayakrishnan.

Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is a fantasy-filled adventure, donning Mammootty in a double role as a bike jumper named Jimmy in a circus company and a friendly ghost! The story revolves around an orphan Jimmy brought up by Krishnettan (Innocent), who runs a street circus group.

Jimmy rescues a couple of street children from some goons and they become part of the street circus group, which is later merged with a commercial circus company, run by Philipose (Janaradhanan) and his daughter Ancy (Kavya Madhavan), a management graduate. While Jimmy is away, the kids again run into some trouble. However, they are rescued by a ghost who only they can see. The film develops from this point.

Produced under the banner of Hi Bright Movie Creations, the film has cinematography by Azhagappan and music by debutant music director Shaan Rahman. For the first time in her career, Kavya Madhavan is cast as Mammootty's heroine in Ee Pattanathil Bhootham.
