Supertstar Mammootty's Shaji Kailas directed August 15, a sequel to yesteryear super hit August 1 (1988) directed by Sibi Malayil, has commenced in Thiruvananthapuram. An investigative thriller, August 15 is produced by Aroma Mani.In the sequel, Mammootty will reprise his earlier role of a brainy investigative officer Perumal, while Yakshiyum Njanum fame Meghna Raj will be the heroine.
In August 15 also features Captain Raju, Prathapachandran, Innocent, Jagadish, Janardanan, Lizy, Mammukoya, Poojappura Radhakrishnan, Jagathi Sreekumar, Sreenath, Sukumaran, K.P.A.C. Sunny, Kollam Thulasi, Urvashi and Vijayan. Mammootty-Shaji Kailas duo's last venture Drona 2010 bombed at the box office.
