Mammootty plays superstar once again



After making a cameo as himself in super hit Katha Parayambol in 2007, Malayalam superstar Mammootty is once again making an appearance as a superstar in M.A. Nishad directed Best of Luck, starring Kailash, Asif Ali, Archana Kavi, Rima Kallingal and Urvashi in major roles.

Best of Luck is a drama with Prabhu playing a rich entrepreneur Vinayaka Naickar. Kailash plays his step brother. Asif plays a budding filmmaker. Produced by A & M Entertainment Company, this laugh riot has veteran Tamil actor Prabhu in a double role.

Music is by Dr. Palash Sen and his band Euphoria. Cinematography is by Sanjeev Shankar. The film is written by the director himself. The shooting is currently under way at Vaikom and the film will be released in July.

Mammootty becomes ‘Best Actor’




Mammootty is giving breaks to a lot of new directors “who have ideas that can make a hit”. His new director is Martin Prakkat, fashion photographer who does great portfolios for the leading women magazine ‘Vanitha’.

During one of his journalistic assignments he met Mammootty and struck a friendship with the actor which led to him becoming director of a Mammootty film. The star was impressed by his script about a UP school teacher who wants to be a film actor!

So Mammootty asked his right hand man Anto Joseph and Naushad, to produce Martin’s film which has been titled Best Actor. The film is said to be an emotional at the same time rocking comedy entertainer. Kannada actress Sruthi Ramakrishnan is Mammootty heroine in the film.

Along with Mammootty there is strong supporting cast headed by Lal, Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar, Vinayagan and a special cameo by the comedy king Suraj Venjaranmoodu!

Old timer Ajay Vincent is the cameraman, Don Max the editor, and Bijibal provides music. The film is produced by Anto Joseph and Naushad under the banner of Big Screen, which last produced the hit Chattambinadu. Best Actor will be distributed by Play House and will be Mammootty’s Ramzan release

Mammootty and Shruthi in 'Best Actor'



Kannada actress Shruthi Ramakrishnan will debut into Malayalam with the movie ‘Best Actor’. She will be playing the heroine to Mammootty in the movie. Shruthi is cast in the role of Savithri, a music teacher and the wife of the character played by Mammootty, who appears as Mohan, a school teacher with intentions of becoming a movie actor.

Shruthi Ramakrishnan who had been the heroine in Kannada movies like ‘Prithiya’ and ‘Police Quarters’ is also appearing in a Tamil movie, right now.

‘Best Actor’ will be completed in two schedules at Kochy. The movie will be the Ramzan release of the megastar.

Pranchiyettan And The Saint Malayalam Movie




The mega star Mamooty is to rock again in this year with his new flick titled, ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’. For the both director Renjith and the actor Mamooty last year (2009) was a prosperous year as both of them were delivering success. Their movie ‘Palery Manickyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha’ has bagged many awards in Kerala.

One of the notable awards is that Mamooty received a best actor award. This successful team is back again to deliver a rocking success with the flick ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’ this year. Innocent plays an important character in this flick apart from Mamooty. The musical department is under taken by the national award winner Ouseppachan. This movie has many professional faces in important roles. The camera work for this hilarious movie is donned by Venu. The shooting for the movie is believed to kick start by the mid of June.

Mammootty wants to work with young,debutant directors

Southern superstar Mammootty says that he prefers to work with young, debutant directors as they have helped his career.

Mammootty said that he have always worked with debutants and young directors because they will always come up with scripts with fresh concepts.He added that they always come up with novel themes and this has helped him in getting variety of roles.

The actor's first Kannada Movie 'Shikari' is written and directed by young Kannada director Abhay Simha. The film is also being made simultaneously in Malayalam.

Mammootty is writing the dialogues for the Malayalam version of the film

Sandalwood welcomes Mammootty



Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who arrived at Bengaluru on Monday to join the sets of his debut Kannada film Shikari (directed by young director Abhaya Simha) received a warm welcome with a sandalwood garland and the traditional Mysore turban.

Amidst loud cheers and applause, Mammootty said he has watched several Kannada films and also recalled his association with Dr. Rajkumar and Vishnuvardan. He said that he would learn Kannada by the time he finishes this film and dub in his own voice in Kannada.

Veteran director Rajendra Singh Babu recalled that he had approached Mammootty on several earlier occasions to act in Kannada films, but the projects did not materialise. Choreographer Chinni Prakash, actress Tara, actors Adarsh and Mohan spoke during the occasion. Shikari will be made in Malayalam too.

Shikari: Mammootty's second Kannada film

Mammootty, the superstar of Malayalam films, has begun acting on his second film in Sandalwood after Love (2005). The shooting for Shikari began last week. Mammootty flew to Bangalore straight after his holiday in the US.

The film is being directed by young award winning director Abhay Simha. Mammootty plays the role of an IT professional who finds a half-written novel set in the pre-independence era. The novel is about a hunter and a village girl. What makes the story more interesting is that Mammootty also plays the central character (the hunter) in the novel. The heroine is yet to be finalized.

It will be a treat for Kannada audiences to watch Mammootty in action. Mammootty has earlier spoken Kannada dialogues for the Malayalam film Vidheyan (The Servile) directed by Adoor Gopalakrishanan.
